The biggest and the deepest longing that people have is to find meaning and purpose in life, to enjoy an intimate relationship with God, and to develop spiritually. This longing is fulfilled by being in a relationship with someone who has been farther down the road. This explains the long-standing tradition of Spiritual Direction in the church of Jesus Christ. Now Spiritual Direction is not as directive as it sounds. It really is Spiritual Coaching or Discipleship Coaching.
